The Legacy of The Jason Crawford Memorial Tournament 2024

In a touching display of dedication and heart, the 2024 Little Guy Wrestling league concluded its season with the Jason Crawford Memorial Tournament. Among the 2200 competitors, Team Asylum proudly stood with five remarkable wrestlers - Joel, Rene, Kaysin, Christian, and Cash and one honorary wrestler Rocco.

Joel showcased his best performances and secured a well-deserved SECOND place finish, a testament to his relentless spirit and hard work. The growth he displayed in character, ability to take constructive criticism and applying what we have been working on during a short season makes us truly proud and we look forward to see his list of accomplishments continue to grow. We thank you for joining our team and hope as you transition into high school you continue to come and practice with us. We are rooting for ya!

Kaysin, With only two months of practice and in his first year of wrestling, persevered to claim a commendable 3rd place finish, displaying an inspiring commitment to growth and improvement. Although you hate practices - long waits it sure seems like you enjoy the competition. It is pretty amazing to walk away with many victories against tough kids who have been wrestling for years. You did that and ended the season not being pinned you ANIMAL.. See you at Practice suckkkkker!

Cash left everything on the mat, fighting with every ounce of his being, and achieved a hard earned 3rd place. demonstrating determination, perseverance after taking a hard loss and came back with vengeance to defeat an opponent for his 3rd place position on the podium. It takes a lot to overcome a loss in a tournament then to wrestle your final match against an opponent who you previously lost to a couple weeks and dominate the match like you did. Way to go kiddo

Rocco joined our team for practices the last couple of weeks of the season and although wearing different stripes for this event he displayed outstanding character, perseverance, and amazing attitude. Wrestling hard while utilizing great technique and the ability to bounce back after a tough loss to work his way back into a third place victory (TECH FALL) while rocking the mullet. Rocco you may be one of the few who were born with the wrestling mindset already. Keep up the good work! I think it was the first practice i asked you if you were going to unleash the POWER OF THE MULLET. You never replied but I got my answer.

Christian wrestled with unparalleled tenacity, earning a fourth place finish displaying the resilience and perseverance instilled by the sport. This display of grit during every match should be an example to others. We appreciate all the hard work you put in this year and look forward to seeing what you have in-store for next season. Oh and trust me I won’t forget yelling cross face for almost three minutes at you to a point where I was laughing and you just insisted on not doing it lol.

Rene gave it his all and wrapped up the tournament with a solid fourth place finish, showcasing his untapped potential and determination that will allow hime to excel in the sport. There is only one Rene and from your first match with our team to your last match, the development has came along way. Keep up the good work and next year they won’t be ready for what you have for them!

~The Real Win~

While the placements reflected their performance on paper, what truly shone was the exceptional growth and character development shown by these young athletes. They not only applied the skills taught in training but also displayed maturity and sportsmanship. In a conclusion to the year, these wrestlers made us all proud with their champion-like mentality, showing grace in victory and dignity in defeat.

As you continue to push yourselves in wrestling and any other aspects of life, remember that the only limits you face are the ones you set for yourself! It starts with you and ends with you!

We stand PROUD to have each of you represent Team Asylum. Carry the values of hard work, perseverance, and respect with you everyday as you have demonstrated to me and the rest of the ASYLUM team.
